Become a Member of our Team!

Research Associate, Molecular Biology

Who Are We?

We are on a mission to help patients regain independence through the thoughtful design of safe and reversible therapeutics. You may be, accurately, wondering “how do you do this”? Well, our team is developing a proprietary technology platform to target various regenerative pathways critical for the establishment of complex diseases.

We are looking for team members to join ASAP.

Our small but rapidly growing team currently operates out of South San Francisco. We are easily accessible from SF, the Peninsula, and the East Bay (for those interested in the occasional ferry rides).

Responsibilities

  • Reprogramming mammalian cell-lines and primary cells into relevant progenitor stem cells

  • Evaluating and optimizing various cell engineering strategies

  • Genome editing of cells for functional optimization

  • Expanding progenitor cells in culture and banking

  • Differentiating progenitor cells into targeted tissue cells

  • Development of disease modeling assays through comparative experiments

  • Designing AAV and lentivirus-based gene delivery systems

  • Technology transfer between external parties to the company

  • Setting up, maintaining, and efficiently operating cost-effective laboratory operations

  • Assisting colleagues in experiments and lab techniques training

  • Maintaining inventory and ensuring equipment maintenance

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. degree in immunology, cell biology, biotechnology, pharmacy or related fields + 3 yrs of working experience, or M.Sc. in the above fields + hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Minimal technical qualifications: Basic wet lab experience in molecular biology; handling of experimental animal models a big plus.

  • Preferred cell-based technical qualifications: molecular cloning, PCR, DNA quantification, protein quantification by Western blot, Elisa, knowledge of best-practice cell culture techniques of cell lines and primary human samples a plus; gene editing technologies a plus.

  • Preferred in vivo experience: basic hands-on experience handling animal/murine models, dissection, hematopoietic tissue isolation and processing for downstream analysis and further experimental applications such as peripheral blood collection and processing (PBMCs), red blood cell lysis, cell viability analysis.

  • Additional in vivo experience: drug administration by i.v., i.p,. s.c., processing of primary human bone marrow/peripheral blood/cord blood samples, isolation of PBMCs (eg. Ficoll, MACS); basic knowledge of multi-color flow cytometry analysis (FACS) of mouse/human-derived peripheral blood and bone marrow samples.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly interactive team-oriented environment

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Epic Bio is an early-stage biotechnology company developing a novel technology platform that can provide safe and persistent control of targeted gene regulation.
